IPNC Seasonal Post: Issue 6

We hope your year is off to a great start.  Plans for the 2009 IPNC are in full swing and we have exciting news to share with you!

Master of Ceremonies

Jancis Robinson

We are thrilled to announce that prolific author and Master of Wine, Jancis Robinson, will be the 2009 IPNC Master of Ceremonies!

With an almost endless list of book titles and international accolades to her name, Jancis is among the most accomplished wine professionals in existence.

Since 2000, she has dedicated much of her time to her purple pages at www.jancisrobinson.com, a resource “for people who love good wine.”

The IPNC Digs Deeper with Two Seminars

Hands Holding Earth

The topics of soil and geology will be at the heart of the 23rd annual IPNC. For the first time, the IPNC will host not one, but two large format seminars!

Master of Ceremonies, Jancis Robinson, will lead a tasting of ten Pinot noir wines made by five of Oregon’s finest winemakers as a part of an experiment intended to further explore the question of how soil, geology and the winemaker’s approach impact the expression of their Pinot noir.  Oregon panelists include Terry Casteel of Bethel Heights Vineyard, Steve Doerner of Cristom Vineyards, Laurent Montalieu of Solena Cellars, Lynn Penner-Ash of Penner-Ash Cellars, and Ken Wright of Ken Wright Cellars.

David Schildknecht (Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate and The World of Fine Wine) and François Millet of the historic Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé will take guests on a geological tour of Chambolle-Musigny, concluding with a rare tasting of 2006 vintage Burgundy including world-renowned Grand Crus Bonnes-Mares and Musigny Vielles Vignes
