The International Pinot Noir Celebration and Gyroscope Pictures Present:

The Real Dirt on Pinot Noir: A wine documentary that isn't afraid to get its hands dirty. Includes final cut and original premiere versions plus the ¡Salud! Video and more!

Description: Winemakers from Oregon, Burgundy and New Zealand talk about why the wines they make reflect the place they were grown.

While winery practices and vintage conditions shape the character of a wine, so do erupting volcanoes, carving glaciers, and dirt. At least that's what it says on the cue cards suavely read by our affable, know-it-all host Cormorant Beasley (Matt Berson). But wait a minute: how can wine taste like dirt? Beasley's quest for an answer takes him and his hapless sommelier sidekick (Matt Giraud) on an odyssey spanning three continents to discover that dirt really matters.

Gyroscope Pictures generously waived all its production costs in the creation of this DVD, and teamed up with the IPNC to donate all of proceeds after expenses to ¡Salud! -- providing healthcare for seasonal vineyard workers.

Information on ¡Salud!: To make a long story short, in 2003 the IPNC became a benefit for the Oregon's ¡Salud! program, an outstanding organization that provides health care to our seasonal vineyard workers. Because there is no other way to provide health insurance to these individuals who travel from place to place, Oregon winemakers have created an auction of unique Oregon wines that funds a system of mobile health care vans that literally bring services to the vineyards, provides screening and treatment for basic health problems and follow up care and services for serious illnesses.
